VanKirk, Dolores (1 May 1918 – 30 April 2018)

Dolores VanKirk, 87, of Madison passed away Monday, April 30, 2018, at Agrace Hospice in Fitchburg.

She was born May 1, 1930, in Owen, the daughter of Louis Hause and Martha Reich.

A true friend Hoa Luu, who she enjoyed conversations, coffee, evening phone calls and just spending time together, will always be in her heart.

Dolores is the widow of Warren VanKirk and survived by many relatives and friends. The years spent living with her daughter Kelly Janke and (son-in-law) Shane Prichard in Madison will always be cherished.

She enjoyed sewing and quilting with her many friends and visitors she met while working at Hancock and Joann Fabrics. Dolores was also an active member of her church, the United Church of Christ in Fitchburg. She loved to sit in the back row with her fellow “gigglers.”

Dolores had a passion for cooking and baking and treasured every opportunity to share her love in this with anyone. She wanted everyone to know her secret pie crust recipe did not include water; instead, Dolores replaced water with vodka. She always told with a Dolores smile, of course.

A private ceremony in her hometown of Humbird will be upcoming with her ashes being placed in a family plot.
