Swope, Ronald Leroy (28 AUG 1942 – 28 APR 2018)

Ronald Leroy Swope, 75, of Stanley, passed away Sunday peacefully at home with his loving family by his side in the same home he was born in. He was born on August 28, 1942, to the late Kenneth and Betty (Krueger) Swope. Ron grew up south of Stanley and 58 years ago on January 2, 1960, was united in marriage to Cynthia Hendrickson at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Stanley.

During his lifetime Ron was self- employed, worked for Presto, and was a Union Ironworker Local #383. He was a jack-of-all-trades, being able to fix or build whatever the task was and he enjoyed it. Ron had many interests including hunting, fishing and helping others.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cynthia; children: Steven (Candy) Swope of Stanley, Shane (Heidi) Swope of Thorp, Lori (Tim) Nitz, Lynn (Ed) Shilts, Kim Kmieciak (Mike Mason), Kelly Copenhaver, all of Stanley, and Ron JR "Buck" (Beth) Swope, of Lake Hallie; 32 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; his siblings: Judy Barry of Ohio and Linda Swope of Tomah, and Greg (Yvonne) Swope of Exeland; plus many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Ron is preceded in death by his parents; his grandbaby, Bradley Shilts; his brothers: Larry and Brent Swope; brothers-in-law: James Barry and Ronald "Buck" Ponick; and sisters-in-law: Judy Ponick and Gloria Folczyk.

Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at Faith Evangelical Free Church, Stanley with Randy Vandeloo officiating. Burial followed in South Worden Cemetery. Visitation was from 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday morning an hour before services all at the Church. Plombon Funeral Service assisted the family with arrangements.
