Savage, Judy (Zuber) (6 JUN 1923 – 2 JUN 2018)
Colby - Judy was born Julia Antonette Szepieniec at the home farm on June 6,
1923 in the town of Roosevelt near Lublin, Wisconsin. Her parents were Joseph
and Anna (Surman) Szepieniec. Her siblings were Hank, Casey, Stan, George, Rena,
and Joe.
Judy married Walter "Wally" Zuber in Chicago in 1944. They lived in Chicago and
then moved to central Wisconsin to farm. They later started their business, All
Metal Stamping, in 1954. Judy helped run the business and did the bookkeeping.
In 1962 they moved to Marshfield. Their children were Dolly, Ken, Gary,
Charlene, and Kim.
After her husband's passing, Judy remarried Bill Savage of Medford in 1971. They
lived in California for a few years before returning to Wisconsin. Bill died in
1997.
Judy enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends; gardening, thrift
shopping, crocheting and knitting, beating everyone at Scrabble, and gambling.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Colby. Towards the end of her
life Judy moved into the Waterford Assisted Living in Colby. She died surrounded
by her family on June 2, 2018, just shy of her 95th birthday.
Judy is survived by three siblings: Rena Phillips, Stan Spence, and Joe
Szepieniec; five children: Dolly (Jack) LaSee, Ken (Dawn) Zuber, Gary Zuber,
Charlene (Will) Bliss; and Kim (Myrna) Zuber; 13 grandchildren and 18
great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Saint Mary Help of Christian Parish in Colby on
Thursday, June 7, 2018. Visitation will be at the church beginning at 9:15 a.m.
The funeral mass will begin at 11:00 a.m. Following a lunch, the burial will be
at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery in Marshfield, Wisconsin. In lieu of
flowers, memorials can be made to Saint Mary's Catholic Church and School in
Colby. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is entrusted with the
arrangements.
