Brandner, Roger Lee Sr. (14 MAY 1947 - 10 MAR 2018)

Roger Lee Brandner, Sr., 70, of Medford, passed away surrounded by his loving family on March 10, 2018 after a courageous five-year battle of Mantel Cell Lymphoma.

He is the son of Edward J. and Edna I. (Frischmann) Brandner, born on May 14, 1947, in Medford. He graduated from Medford High School in 1965 and later went on to earn his business administration degree.

In 1966 he enlisted in Wisconsin Army National Guard and worked for the Department of Defense, retired as an E-8 1st SGT after 32 years of service. While enlisted he served as a Support Service Specialist for the U.S. Army under Civil Services in Madison, Wisconsin Rapids, Marshfield, Abbotsford and Medford from 1970-1998. Roger then went on to work for Hurd Millwork as plant manager from 1998 until his retirement in 2007.

He was married for almost fifty years to the love of his life, Janice C. Krause, united in marriage on Oct. 19, 1968. She survives.

Roger was a devoted Catholic and member of OLPH parish in Whittlesey. He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, camping, walking and playing cards. Most of all, he valued spending time with his family.

Roger was the proud father of Dawn (Jason) Heier of Medford, Roger Jr. (Jennifer) Brandner of Pardeeville, Chuck (Tammy) Brandner of Fond Du Lac, Chris (Mike) Hanson of Thorp and Sheila (Nathan) Hollatz of Marshfield; loving grandfather of Collyn and Katelyn Heier, Blake, Bailey and Brianna Brandner, Seth, Alivia, Tyler and Allie Brandner, Alexa and Logan Hanson, and Addasyn and Kylee Hollatz; caring brother of Melva (Otto) Klinger, Delbert (June) Brandner, Ruth Zuleger, Edward (Rosie) Brandner, Ethel Laher and Sharon (Jerry) Nowak. He is also survived by mother-in-law, Marjorie Krause; many nieces and nephews; and friends.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Edna Brandner; father-in-law, Edwin Krause; brother, Harvey Brandner; sister-in-law, Arlene Brandner; and brothers-in-law, Richard Zuleger and Richard Laher.

A funeral Mass for Roger took place on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at OLPH Catholic Church, Whittlesey at 11 a.m., with Father Phil Juza presiding. Visitation took place at OLPH Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, from 4 p.m. until the time of the Catholic rosary service at 7 p.m.; visitation continued on Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11 a.m. Military rites were performed by the Medford VFW and WI Army National Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Roger’s name may be given to the family for use at a later designation.
