Dodmead, Elmer John (4 September 1900 – 13 November 1974)

Funeral services for Elmer John Dodmead, 74, a Neillsville resident since 1968 and former Town of Levis farmer who died November 13, were held Saturday at 1 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home. The Rev. J. N. Henseler of St. Mary’s Catholic Church officiated, and interment followed in the parish cemetery.

Elmer Dodmead, son of James and mary (Carlin) Dodmead, was born September 4, 1900, at Eau Claire and was educated in area schools. He farmed there and worked at the Gillett Rubber Company before moving to the Town of Levis to farm.

His marriage to the former Regina Smitke took place November 13, 1928, in Eau Claire. Mrs. Dodmead preceded her husband in death on August 20, this year.

The Dodmeads moved to Neillsville following their retirement in 1968. For the past four years, Mr. Dodmead was employed as the night clerk at the Merchants Hotel.

Surviving ae three children, Kenneth Dodmead and Mrs. George (Carlyn Ann) Szaflarski of Chicago, Il., and Lorna Mae Lee of Neillsville; two sisters: Mrs. John (Estella) Hurd of Eau Claire and Mrs. Charles (Esther) McElravy of Holcombe; and seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Frank Matousek, Jr., Larry Matousek, Bruno Pohl, Arlen Bryan, Eugene Bryan and James Neville.

Mrs. John Schiesel was the organist.

Boie, Thorp; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Matousek, Jr., and family, Mr. and Mrs. Larry Matousek and family and Miss Beverly Matousek, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. James Lee, Sr. Akron, Oh.; and Mrs. Tony Matalas, Alma Center.
