Tormey, Frank E. (8 JAN 1889 – 17 JUL 1970)

Frank Tormey, a resident of Withee (Clark Co., Wis.) for 44 years, and a longtime village employee as street commissioner, succumbed to a lingering illness of complications of old age, and passed away July 17, 1970. Death came at the Memorial Nursing Home at Neillsville, where he had been a resident for several weeks.

Final rites for Frank Earl Tormey were held at the Hoeper and Kraut Funeral Home at 2 p.m. July 20, 1970, with Rev. H.W. Luetkehoelter of Nazareth Lutheran Church, Withee, officiating. Burial was made at Riverside Cemetery.

Sam Munson, Bernard Auberg, Sig. Sorensen, Oscar Makkonen, Gilbert Cardinal and C.O. Albert were pallbearers.

Born January 8, 1889 in Wisconsin, he came to Withee in 1924, first being associated with the lumbering industry, and then a longtime association with the Owen Canning Corporation. When that firm discontinued operations several eyars ago, he was named Street Commissioner of Withee, and held the post until he became ill.

On June 20, 1913 he and the late Alma Herrick exchanged nuptial vows, with three children being born to the union. She passed away June 19, 1940, and on November 13, 1940, he was united in marriage to Bobette Hunzicker, who survives him, as do two sons, Cecil Tormey, Withee, and Keith Tormey, San Diego, Calif., and five grandchildren.
