Schafer, Emily M. (Gustafson) (9 FEB 1967 - 21 FEB 2018)

Emily M. Schafer, 51, of Ladysmith, died on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018 at home.

Emily was born on Feb. 9, 1967 in Oak Lawn, Ill. to Jeanette and John Gustafson. She grew up in Rusk County for 14 years then moved to Chicago, Ill. She lived there for 21 years and moved back to Ladysmith in 2002 where she lived for the remainder of her life.

She loved bowling and spending time with her family and friends. Most of all, she loved spending all the time she could with her grandchildren.

Emily is survived by her husband, William Schafer, Sr.; her four children, Leigh Ann Schafer, Jodi Nichols, William Schafer, Jr. (Kelly) of Monee, Ill. and Rebecca Schafer and her six grandchildren, JD Schafer, Katalina Hanson, Deana Nichols, Channing Nitek, Peyton Schafer and Liam Schafer. She is also survived by her two brothers, John Russell and Ernest Russell; her sister, Danielle Hendrix and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers; Jimmy and Fred.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the VMA in Ladysmith with Deacon Doug Sorenson officiating.
