Geiger, Norbert B. “Norb” (10 JUN 1928 - 18 FEB 2018)

Norbert B. “Norb” Geiger, age 89, of Dorchester passed away on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2018, at Dycora Transitional Health and Living in Abbotsford under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. Rev. Timothy L. Oudenhoven will preside. Burial will follow in Dorchester Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of service. The honor of pallbearer belongs to Mike Geiger, Brad Geiger, Andy Geiger and Taylor Kalepp.

Norb was born in Dorchester on June 10, 1928, the son of Michael and Amelia (Lang) Geiger. He attended St. Louis Catholic School in Dorchester. Norb was united in marriage to Geraldine “Gerry” Beyer at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Stetsonville on Aug. 6, 1949. His employment included owning and operating a dairy farm, serving as the town constable and as a maintenance worker for the Village of Dorchester, for Brandner Meat Market, as an escort driver for mobile homes and owning his own trucking business.

Norb was instrumental in starting the Dorchester Days State Track Pulls. He was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church and a volunteer for the Dorchester Fire Department. His hobbies included riding his horse “Mac” in his youngers years, tinkering in his garage, yard work, driving truck, camping, gardening and driving around on his Gator. Norb was an amazing “jack of all trades” and his ability to fix anything will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife, Gerry, of 68 years; his children, John (Elfriede) Geiger of Colorado Springs, Colo., James (Charlene) Geiger of Spencer, Steve Geiger of Owen, Kurt (Jennifer) Geiger of Potter, Kathleen (Dennis) Reynolds of Dorchester, Sandra (Dave) Behnke of Dorchester and Pam (Kirk) Kalepp of Dorchester; his siblings, Paul (Pat) Geiger of Tiskilwa, Ill., David (Carol) Geiger of Dorchester, Mark (Lois) Geiger of Durand, Cyril Geiger of Dorchester, Therese Geiger of Dorchester and Jane (Dick) Austin of Auburndale; his brother-in-law, Donald Peissig of Dorchester; his sisters-in-law, Ardis Clarkson of Stetsonville and Kathy Beyer of Medford; 22 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

Norb was preceded in death by his parents; son in infancy, Timothy; son, Daniel Geiger; great-grandson, Trent Geiger; sister, Margaret Peissig; brothers-in-law, Allen Beyer and Les Clarkson; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, CNAs and volunteers at the Colby Clinic, Marshfield Medical Center, Dycora and Hope Hospice for all the wonderful care provided.

His arrangements are under the care of Life Tributes Funeral Home–Spencer.
