Kelnhofer, Herbert A. (8 OCT 1930 - 9 MAY 1999)

Herbert A. Kelnhofer, 68, of Wisconsin Rapids, died Sunday, May 9, 1999, at his residence.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 12, 1999, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Wisconsin Rapids with Rev. John Hogan officiating. Entombment took place in Forest Hill Mausoleum with military rites by Hagerstrom Rude Young Clark American Legion Post 9.

Pallbearers were Tom Kelnhofer, Drew Hamel, Don Mancl, Randy Kubisiak, Dennis Schultz, and Dan Steckbauer.

Visitation and a wake service were held at Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids.
Herbert A. Kelnhofer was born October 8, 1930, in Blenker to Frank and Margaret (Tauschek) Kelnhofer. He married Marjorie Dunkel on October 21, 1952, in Blenker.

In his early years, he was employed by Biron Cranberry Company. He then served in the Wisconsin National Guard. In 1953, he joined the US Army and served until February 1955. He then worked as a turbine operator for Consolidated Papers Inc. until retiring in 1994. He was an avid Packers fan and enjoyed his motorcycle, woodworking and baseball. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and of the Catholic Knights.

Survivors include his wife, Marjorie; three daughters, Cindy Hamel of Nekoosa, Kim (Randy) Kubisiak of Wisconsin Rapids and Kay (Dennis) Schultz of Spencer; a son, Tom Kelnhofer of Oshkosh; one brother, James (Charlene) Kelnhofer of Richardson, Texas; two sisters, Marie (George S.) Lang of Arpin and Margaret Mancl of Marshfield; two stepsisters, Lillian Winkles of Riceville, Iowa, and Mary Ashbeck of Wisconsin Rapids; two sisters-in-law, Mae Kelnhofer of Wisconsin Rapids and Rachel Kelnhofer of San Antonio, Texas; and five grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents; his stepmother, Theresa (Rickl) Kelnhofer; two brothers, George F. and Michael; and one sister, Sister M. Theresette "Anna" Kelnhofer.
