Laufenberg, John (? – 9 January 2018)

John Laufenberg, 70, passed away Jan. 9, 2018, at his home in Pleasant Prairie.

John was born in Black River Falls to Godfrey and Octavia Laufenberg, the sixth of eight children. John was raised on the farm south of Alma Center and eventually moved to Kenosha, working for American Motors, later known as the Chrysler Corporation, and retiring from there due to health issues. He was an avid racing and Green Bay Packers fan.

John is survived by his brother Ron (Sue) Laufenberg of Sparta, sisters Teresa (Bruce) Spiegel of Granton, Ruth (Harland) Viner of Holmen and Louise (Dave) Stephenson of Verona and many nephews and nieces.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Bernard (Dorothy) and Edward (Helen) and sister Dorothy Laufenberg; nieces, Mary Ann Spiegel, Miranda and Rose Laufenberg and nephews, David Spiegel and Paul Laufenberg.

A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2018, with visitation one hour prior to the service, both at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alma Center. Father Arockia A. Stanislaus will officiate. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Alma Center. Jensen-Modjeski Funeral Home, Hoxton, has been entrusted to services.

The family wants to thank and express our appreciation to John and Judy Musser for all their assistance given to John in the past years, along with tending to his more recent difficult health issues, Dr. Stephen Feuerbach and the medical staff of St. Luke’s Hospital in Milwaukee and Kenosha Memorial Hospitals, along with the Pleasant Prairie Fire Department Ambulance Service and Kenosha Meals on Wheels.
