Joe was born on March 31, 1937, on the family farm. He was the son of Theodore J. and Mary Magdalena (Hoffman) Brill. As a youth he attended Lone Pine School in the town of Hull, St. Mary’s Catholic School, and graduated from Colby High School in 1955.

On Dec. 27, 1975, Joe was united in marriage to Louise Janko at St. Louis Catholic Church in Dorchester. Joe was a dairy farmer for 40 years on the Brill farm that has been in the family name since 1881. He also served in the National Guard for six years, including one year active duty during the Berlin Crisis. He was an assessor for six years, worked at Colby Metal, Marshfield Furniture, and during his retirement years he also worked for Brandon’s Farm Service.

Joe enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards, watching the Green Bay Packers, being in the woods, deer hunting, logging, cutting firewood, and making maple syrup. Joe was always willing to give his family, friends and neighbors any help they needed. Joe always put others needs first before his own. He will be deeply missed by his wife and his step daughters for his love, patience, and kindness that he constantly gave them. Joe was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church all his life. He was a lifetime member of Catholic Order of Foresters, where he served as recording secretary of St. Kilian’s Court since 1954. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

Joe is survived by his wife, Louise; two step-daughters, Linda Janko and Lori Janko; son-in-law, John Reynolds; and a special friend, Ben Mock. He is further survived by two sisters, Sister Clarone Brill and Rita Sweet; many nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Edward Brill; four sisters, Sister Clara Brill, Sister Jolita Brill, Theresa Bergs and Agnes Bergs.
