Quast, Allen L.J. (1936? – 20 JAN 2018)

Allen L.J. Quast, 81, Whitewater, formerly of Greenwood, died unexpectedly at home, sitting in his favorite recliner, on Saturday, January 20, 2018. He will be missed by many loving friends and family members. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, Jan. 27, at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Whitewater. Visitation will be immediately beforehand from 9-11 a.m. Burial with military honors at the Hillside Cemetery will occur after the funeral mass.

Allen grew up in Greenwood, where he graduated high school. He served in the U.S. Army from 1955-61 and enjoyed playing drums in the Army Band. Allen met the love of his life, Barbara, in Loyal, and they were married on Feb. 3, 1962. Allen worked 34 years at Hawthorn Melody Dairy, and ended his career as a lab technician at Crystal Farms in Lake Mills. Allen always enjoyed camping with his TowLow, traveling to unique destinations, and playing cards with family and friends.

Allen is survived by his wife of almost 56 years, Barbara; two sons: Tom Quast of Whitewater and Bob (Becky) Quast of Blue Grass, Iowa; five grandchildren: Chris (Haley), Brian, Jase (Kellie), Lacey, and Savanna; five great-grandchildren: Lillie, Zoey, Owen, Emery, and Rowan (plus Jase & Kellie’s twins due any day); plus many nieces and nephews, including Linda and Tom Hett with whom Allen and Barbara enjoyed traveling the world.

Allen was preceded in death by his parents, Hilda and Martin Quast; Barbara’s parents, Julia and Emil; a sister, Bev; and a loving daughter, Lynnette (who has waited over 18 years to be reunited with the dad who loved her endlessly).

Allen’s family invites everyone to share stories and condolences at www.nitardyfuneralhome.com.
