Vollrath, Anne Josephine (17 June 1885 – 8 October 1974)

Mrs. George Vollrath, 89, Greenwood passed away Tuesday, October 8, at Memorial Hospital in Neillsville, where she had been a patient since September 22.

Mrs. Vollrath, the former Anne Josephine Johnson, daughter of Andrew and Ingrud (Halverson) Johnson was born June 17, 1885, in Daleyville. Her first marriage was on June 26, 1907 in Greenwood to Peter Dahlby, who died March 17, 1916. She was married March 23, 1935, in Greenwood to George Vollrath who died October 1, 1968.

Mrs. Vollrath was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. Surviving her is one son, Orton Dahlby of Cornell; and two daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Plank of Greenwood, and Mrs. Durward (Alvera) Schwarze of Granton; and five grandchildren; three step-grandchildren, and seven step great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by both husbands, two step-daughters, four brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services were held Satruday, October 12, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. The Rev. David Wenger officiated, and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Hugh Severson, Jake Barr, Allen Dallman, James Carney, Harlan Haunschild, and Kenneth Vollrath. Mrs. Duane Olson, and Mrs. Harry Johnson sang, “Safe in the Arms of Jesus,” and “Be Still My Soul,” accompanied on the organ by Mrs. Don Warner.

People from away who attended were: Miss Penny Dahlby of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; Mr. and Mrs. James Ritchley of Monoa; Mr. and Mrs. Orton Dahlby and children of Cornell; Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson of Malta, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. Allen Johnson of Kingston, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Johnson of Genoa, Il.; Mrs. Edith Stout and son, Wayne of Rockford, Il.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Thompson and daughter of Thorp; Mr. and Mrs. Durward Schwarze of Granton; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Boe of Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Boon, Mr. and Mrs. James Carney, Mrs. Lois Guest, Mrs. Thomas Sugg, and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Thompson of Neillsville.
