Kowalski, Jeanette C. (Gryga) (24 JUN 1928 - 9 NOV 2017)

Jeanette C. Kowalski, 89, of Hawkins, died from natural causes on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017 at Ladysmith Care & Rehabilitation Center.

Jeanette was born on June 24, 1928 in Hawkins to Joseph and Agnes Gryga. She also lived in Highland for a number of years. She married Steve Kowalski in Hawkins on Oct. 26, 1946. She came to Rusk County on June 7, 1969. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawkins.

Jeanette is survived by her daughters Kathryn (Jack) Benish of Highland and Joann Cynor of Bloomer; her sons, William (Pamela) Kowalski of Alexander, N.C. and James Kowalski of Hawkins; 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law, Mary Ann Kowalski of Darlington and her nieces and nephews and their families.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Steve, who passed away on Oct, 8, 1975; her parents; her son, John Kowalski; her grandson, Steve Kowalski and six siblings.

A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hawkins with Fr. Inna Pothireddy and Deacon Doug Sorenson officiating. Family will receive friends at the church for an hour prior to the Mass.

Jeanette’s ashes will be buried in the church cemetery.

Nash-Jackan Funeral Home is assisting with the arrangements.
