Badzinski, Karen Ann (31 OCT 1970)

A two o'clock wedding was held October 31, 1970 at the St Hedwig's Chapel, where Karen Ann Badzinski and Kenneth Knight exchanged marriage vows. Father Joseph Walijewski performed the double ring ceremony, with Scott Schultze and Gary Lewandowski assisting as servers. Karen and Ken are children of Mr. and Mrs. John P. Badzinski, Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Knight of Waupaca.

To the tune of the theme song of "Romeo and Juliet," planed by the organist, Mrs. Carroll Asbeck, the bride came down the aisle, escorted by her parents and given in marriage by her father.

The bride wore a Chantilly lace and angel skin A-line gown with Camelot sleeves, empire waist, sculptured neckline, and a detachable chapel length Watteau train. The headpiece was a three tiered English illusion bouffant veil with Venice and pearl trimmed Camelot cap. She carried a rosary of pink romance roses as her bouquet. Two large plants with white pompoms decorated the altar.

Dorothy Stephen, sister of the bride, acted as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Jean Stroinski, sister of the bride, Dawn and Terri Stephens, nieces of the bride, Nancy Knight and Charlene Siddall, sister of the groom, Terry LaGasse, Loretta Abrahamson, Joy Belt, girlfriends of the bride. They were all attired in polyester crepe radiance empire waist dresses of shocking pink and deep purple, with lace trim on bodice and standup collar, and a row of pearl buttons as added trim. The headpieces were of deep purple velvet cord made up in large bows with strands of chenille flowers falling gracefully over each shoulder. They carried old fashioned nose gays of Penque pink mums and streamers of love knots to match. A pink romance rose was tucked into the center of the matron of honor's bouquet.

The groom, escorted by his parents, awaited at the foot of the altar. He was attended by James Stephens, brother-in-law of the bride, as best man. Other groomsmen were Ronald and Darrel Knight, Stan Siddall, brothers and brother-in-law of the groom, Gary and John D. Badzinski, brothers of the bride, Dave Kolesky, Dave Madson, Dan Rath, friends of the groom. Ted Stroinski and Charles Willer acted as ushers.

The groom's boutonniere was a pink romance rose, the groomsmen wore pink pompoms, while the ushers and father wore white pompoms.

The mother of the bride wore a three piece knit suit of royal blue with black accessories. The groom's mother selected a green and beige three piece knit suit with beige accessories. They each had corsages of pink roses.

The grandmothers and godmothers wore corsages of white pompoms. The offertory was carried by the bride and groom's parents, and was then handed to the bridal couple, and in turn given to the priest, while the girls' choir sang "Hear Oh Lord," "Oh Perfect Love," and "On This Day Oh Beautiful Mother." The bride and groom payed homage to the blessed Mother in presenting three pink carnations and lighting a blue vigil candle in thanksgiving of this union.

Reception and dinner were held at the Quonset Hall, with Mrs. Jack Borowick as hostess, and Nellie Czyzewicz cutting the wedding cake, made in a replica of a church by the bride's mother. Dancing followed. Later in the evening the bride threw her bouquet, which was caught by Dawn Stephens, and the groom threw the garter belt, which was caught by Gary Badzinski.

After only a brief honeymoon, the new couple is making their home at Waupaca, Wisconsin.
