Orlikowski, Gerald “Step” (3 AUG 1931 - 25 NOV 2017)

Step” Gerald Orlikowski, 86, Wausau, died Saturday, November 25, 2017 at St. Clare’s Hospital, Weston.

He was born August 3, 1931 in Stevens Point, Wis., son of the late Benjamin and Paulene (Karashinski) Orlikowski. Before Step was born, his father Ben died, and Paulene was then united in marriage to Joe Eckman, and together raised their family in Stevens Point.

For 42 years, Step worked for Marathon Electric Company in Wausau until his retirement in 1995. Some of his favorite pastimes included, playing ship captain crew, shut-box and sheeps-head. One of his favorite places to eat was Arrow Bar and Step looked forward to “Taco Tuesday’s”. He was an avid sports fan and especially enjoyed watching the Packers, Brewers, Bucks, Badgers and NASCAR.

Survivors include, six children, Kim (Ann) Orlikowski, Sobieski, Wis., Cheryl (Peter) Rasmussen, Woodland Park, Colo., Scott (Sue) Orlikowski, Wausau, Sue (fiancé Dan Nelles) Orlikowski, Merrill, Lynn (Paul) Zoellner, Green Bay and Todd (Kathy) Orlikowski, Merrill; Goddaughter, Paulene (Jim) Sala, Athens; Godson, Dale Orlikowski; 16 grandchildren, Kimberly (Adam) Dalke, Emery (Amber) Orlikowski, Nathan (Tiffany) Orlikowksi, Joseph (Elaina) Rasmussen, Andrea Rasmussen, Michael (Bonnie) Orlikowski, Kristina (Robert) Wachholz, Joshua Lewis, Isaac (Christina) Lewis, Aaron (Jen) Lewis, Elizabeth (fiancé Cody Mattson) Lewis, Rachael (Jeff) Seath, Ric Zoellner, Anna Zoellner, Ben Orlikowski and Miranda Orlikowski; 18 great-grandchildren, Sebastian, Kendra, Nolan, Emerson, Bowlin, Jesse, Jackson, Leo, Chelsea, Brady, Bryse, Abram, Scarlet, Gavin, Blake, Corbin, Wyatt and Jade; one sister, Mona Kubicki, Stevens Point; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Mike Orlikowski and Emerick “Butch” Orlikowski; and six sisters, Irene Walukones, Dorothy Edwards, Lucille Kubicki, Patsy Mrozinski, Evelyn Orlikowski and Ramona “Eckie” Eckman.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2017 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home and again on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Rennes Health and Rehab, the staff at Renaissance Assisted Living and the staff at Saint Clare’s Hospital for the wonderful care and support you gave to Step.
