Neillsville Class of ’49 (25-Year Reunion – 3 August1974)

Members of the Neillsville High Class of 1949 met August 3 at Bali Hai Supper Club for a 25-year reunion. Donald Erpenbach, Granton Superintendent of Schools, served as master of ceremonies for the evening.

Guests present were: Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Peters, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hovey, Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Lauscher, and Mr. and Mrs. John Perkins.

Classmates and spouses attending were as follows: David and Elaine (Henchen) Sinner, Sussex; Larry and Cleone (Seelow) Zink, Cudahy; Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Scholtz, Germantown; Ashley and Verna Schaefer, Freiberg, Santa Clara, Ca.; Viola (Bryan) Larson and Vernon, Beloit; Mr. and Mrs. Vern H. Howard, Brookfield; Mr. and Mrs. Keith L. Prizes were awarded to the following: Todd Wall, married the longest time; Charles Scholtz, married the shortest time, Marie (Dux) Meier, first reply; Harris Schoengarth, oldest grandchild; Ruby (Mohr) Ambelang, youngest child; Wendell Elmhorst, male with longest hair (plus wig); Fritz Seelow, least hair.

Each lady present received a corsage in the class colors, and each classmate present received a silver dollar.

A moment of silent prayer honored the memory of two deceased class members, Francis St. Dennis and Ivo Schmitt.

Letters were read from absent classmates: Marlene (Bush) Larson of Fullerton, Ca., Arlene (Meier) Glinski of Stratford, Jeannine Borde of Portland, Or., Marian (Appleyard) Hickithier of Winona, Mn., Gretchen (Korth) Barth of Whitewater, Doris (Tullis) Hartenstein of Waukesha, Joan (Ayers) Bertz of Loyal, Dorothy (Pflughoeft) Pierce of Two Rivers, Elaine (Kessler) Haas of Barron, Robert Scott of Chattanooga, Tn., Joann Bever of Dallas, Tx., and Leonard DeMert of Footville.

Members of the 1974 planning committee were Pat Wasserberger, Fern Swenson, Wendell Elmhorst, Irvin Marg, Fred Seelow, Calvin Gerhardt, Harris Schoengarth, and Donald Erpenbach.

The next reunion is to be held in 1984.
