Hyland, Mary Joyce (20 DEC 1969)

Miss Mary Joyce Hyland, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Hyland of Ancient County Way, Manchester, Mass., became the bride of Mr. Samuel Clark Daines, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Daines, Thorp (Clark Co.), Wisconsin, on Saturday, December 20, 1969, at Sacred Heart Church, Manchester, Mass. The double ring ceremony was performed by Father Walter Lennon.

The bride, given in marriage by her father, was lovely in a Laurel Original of imported Peau de Soie and clipped lace d'Fluer, of Flemish styling with a fitted bodice of silk and jacket effect of lace, sculptured neckline, long fitted sleeves and full draped skirt, with a back sweeping court train. Extending from her sleeves at the elbow were two additional cathedral length trains of Lace d'Fluer. Her bouffant silk illusion veil was accented with appliques of Lace d'Fluer, set into her soft curls of Her flowers over her Bible were of white roses entwined through a full ivory Rosary.

Mrs. Wayne Lynch was her sister's matron of honor and wore a Teaberry silk dulcet gown, with fitted bodice, natural waist and split dirndle skirt. She wore a white fur cape stole and a short face veil of illusion, and carried a silk covered white muff, accented with poinsettias and holly.

Bridesmaids were Sandra Schmidt of Wisconsin, sister of the bridegroom, Barbara Travers of Long Island, cousin of the bride, Carolyn McCleavey of Revere, Joan Imbeault of Manchester, and Donna Purington of Danvers. Junior bridesmaid was Theresa Hyland, sister of the bride. They were gown identical to the matron of honor.

Mr. Donald Christ of New York City was the best man, and ushers included: Henry Schmidt of Wisconsin, William Hyland Jr. and David Hyland, brothers of the bride and wayne Lynch, brother-in-law of the bride.

The altar was decorated with bouquets of white flowers. Mrs. Thomas Cagney presided at the organ and Edward Corley was the soloist.

For her daughter's wedding, Mrs. Hyland chose a French silk coat and dress ensemble of emerald crystal brocade and silver accessories. The mother of the bridegroom chose a green print silk crepe dress with matching accessories.

The reception following the ceremony was held at the Surf. Miss Barbara Jennings was in charge of the guest book.

The bride is a graduate of Manchester High School and the Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing. The bridegroom graduated from the Mayo Clinic School of Anesthetist, and is employed as an Anesthetist at the San Luis Obispo Hospital.

Following a wedding trip to New Mexico, the newlyweds will make their home in San Luis Obispo, California.
