Wagner, George L. (3 JAN 1913 – 13 FEB 1991)

Services for George L Wagner, 78, of 808 E. Ninth St., who died at 2 a.m. Wednesday at his residence, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Rembs/Kundinger Chapel.

The Rev. Omar Nelson, of Grace Lutheran Church, Nasonville, will officiate. Maiden Plank will be the organist, and William A. Allen will be the soloist. Burial will be in Lynn Cemetery, town of Lynn, Clark County.

Pallbearers will be Keith Wagner, Kenneth Behnke, Lowell Roehl, Russell Karl, Bradley Karl and David Tjaden.

Visitation will be at 4 p.m. today and again-Saturday until service time at the funeral chapel. An Elks Lodge of Sorrow will be at 7 p.m. tonight at the funeral chapel.

He was born Jan. 3, 1913, in the a town of Lynn, to William and Anna (Franke) Wagner. He attended schools in the town of Lynn.

He married Irlene E. Knoop Nov. 6, 1937, in the town of Lynn. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1987.

As a young man, he farmed in the town of Lynn and continued farming until 1969. He and his wife then moved to Marshfield. He was employed by Nelson-Jameson Inc. from 1970 until his retirement eight years later. He and his wife continued to live in Marshfield after his retirement, and they had lived at their residence on E. Ninth Street since they first moved to Marshfield.

He was a member of Elks Lodge No. 665. He had been a member of the board of directors of the Neillsville Milk Products Co-op, a former agent and member of the it board of directors of the McMillan Life Insurance Co. and a former member and director of the Marshfield Farmers Co-op Produce Co. He was also a former ie member of the Clark County School Committee, a former clerk for the town of Lynn, a former director of the Lynn Telephone Co. of Clark County, a former member and director of the Clark Co-op Livestock Shipping Association and a former member and secretary of the Southern Clark Conservation Club.

He is survived by his wife; one if son, William W. of Seattle, Wash.; one sister; Mrs. Ethel Manthey of Waunakee; and three grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his parents, one brother and one sister.
