Stargardt, David A. (20 OCT 1942 – 15 AUG 2017)

David Stargardt, age 74, of Neillsville, WI died Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, WI.

David Albert Stargardt was born on October 20, 1942 in Davenport, IA the son of William and Loretta (Foss) Stargardt. He served in the ArmyNational Guard and was united in marriage to Alice Zurn on December 26, 1964 at St. John's Church in Marshfield. David worked as an auto/truck body repairman at Crown Olds, Monroe Truck, Jelco Bus Co., and Mid-State Trucking Co. He then went to work as the maintenance man at Gross Buick in Marshfield until retiring. While working, David also owned a hobby farm, raising draft horses, beefers and sheep. They moved to Neillsville in 2009.

David was a member of Living Hope Evangelical Lutheran Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Janet (Scot) Kapusta of Neillsville, WI, four grandchildren, Justin (Brittany) Kapusta of Marshfield, WI, Cordell Kapusta of Neillsville, WI, Janalee Kapusta of Neillsville, WI and Isabella Kapusta of Neillsville, WI, eleven siblings, Lola Delong, Bonnie Blum, Jim (Sharon) Stargardt, Shirley Stark, Mary (John) Gaffney, Sandy Michur, Pat Rueth, Dennis Stargardt, Steve (Lori) Stargardt, Lynn (Mike) Kron, Gene (Tracy) Stargardt, a sister-in-law, Sheila Stargardt, an honorary son and daughter, Bruce and Sharlene Prust of Chili, WI, his dog, Bear and many close neighbors and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alice, a brother, Carl and niece Angel, brothers-in-law, Pete Delong, Doug Blum, Ralph Stark, Tim Gaffney, Dan Michur, Ralph Rueth and a sister-in-law, Norma Stargardt.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Living Hope Evangelical Free Church in Neillsville. Please attend wearing red as it was David's favorite color. Following the gathering time, military honors performed by the Neillsville Veteran's Council.
