Wilichowski, Margaret Marian (Karlen) (1926? - 14 AUG 2017)

Margaret Marian Wilichowski, formerly of Marathon, passed away on Aug. 14, 2017. She was born in 1926.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.

Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, is assisting the family.

Margaret Marian Wilichowski, formerly of Marathon, died peacefully at Our House Assisted Living, Wausau, on August 14, 2017. Margaret was born in the town of Cassel in 1926, to the late John and Margaret Karlen.

On August 4, 1948, she married Anthony Wilichowski at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Marathon.


Margie enjoyed life and was ready to join her family to celebrate all occasions. Her ready smile and enthusiasm made those events special. She worked at Marathon Cheese until her retirement. She and Tony then lived in the Tomahawk area for a while until illness brought them back to Wausau. She enjoyed crafts, card games with the family, reading, bingo and was always ready to travel.

Survivors include her children, Calvin (Padma), Marathon, Karen (Robert) Jehn, Marathon, Mark (Lisa), Mosinee, and Son-in-law, Steven Gorski, Rothschild, eleven grandchildren, Stacy (Bill) Schoepke, Paul, and Erin Wilichowski, Madison, Lisette (John) Khalil, Oregon, WI, Jeffery Jehn, Merrill, Gregory (Ashley) Jehn, Marathon, Nikki and Ryan Wilichowski, Marathon, Joann Wilichowski, Minocqua, Jennifer (Jordan) Yirkovsky, Mosinee, Jason Wilichowski, Mosinee, and four great-grandchildren, Jack and Charlie Khalil, Jackson Yirkovsky, and Emerson Jehn, two sisters-in-law, Betty Karlen, Edgar, and Irene Karlen, Wausau, and many nieces and nephews.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony, and daughter, LeAnn. Also by her five brothers, Richard, Leo, Raymond, Norman, and John, Jr. and her three sisters, Gertrude Lang, Dorothy Baumann, and Elizabeth Lang.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon, WI. Rev. Msgr. Joseph Diermeier will officiate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services.

Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon is in charge of arrangements.
