Murphy, Floyd R. (7 September 1935 – 29 July 2017)

Floyd R. Murphy, 81, of Greenwood died Saturday, July 29, 2017, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Marshfield.

Floyd R. Murphy was born Sept. 7, 1935, in Christie, the son of Fred and Leota (Howard) Murphy. He graduated from Greenwood High School in 1954. He was united in marriage to Caroline Cram Nov. 13, 1954. He worked as a millwright for Square D Electrical Company in Milwaukee for 25 years. Floyd then owned and operated the General Store and Feed Mill in Willard. He also built a hog operation on their farm and then worked for Grassland Dairy, ordering parts. When he finally retired, he loved working around home, visiting family and friends, and a little playing at the Casino.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Caroline; children Dennis (Sue) Murphy of Thorp, Debbie (Larry) Foster of Eau Claire, Greg (Sherry Murphy of Thorp, Brian (Lori) Murphy of Greenwood, and Lori Murphy of Neillsville; 11 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty (Baylor) Johnston of New Mexico; a brother Wayne (Meta) Murphy of Ely, MN; and a sister-in-law Esther Murphy of Marshfield.

Floyd was preceded in death by his parents and brother Robert Murphy.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday Aug. 12, 2017, at the Gesche Funeral Home in Neillsville. Visitation will be held from 10a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday morning prior to the service.
