Svenson, Suzanne Kay (31 MAY 1969)

Miss Suzanne Kay Svenson, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Roy Svenson of route 2, Withee (Clark Co., Wis.), became the bride of Donald Robert Sanders, son of Mrs. Evelyn Sanders, Wausau, at a 7:20 candlelight service at the United Church of Christ, Owen, on May 31, 1969. Rev. Robert Goessling performed the double-ring ceremony.

Special music was provided by Mrs. Roger Miller, Iola, accompanied by Miss Koplitz and organ and flute music by Mr. and Mrs. Gabe Hav…(?), Des Plaines, Illinois.

Approaching the altar with her father, the bride chose a floor length gown of sheer organza over point d'esprit, and high neckline etched with lace. An empire bodice featured a ruffled jabot, highlighting an A-line silhouette sweeping into a chapel train. She chose a fingertip veil of silk illusion, attached to an organza bow. She carried a bouquet of deep purple French lilacs and white roses and ivy, tied with the white satin bow from the Mother's wedding bouquet of 27 years ago. In her slipper she had a six-pence, a gift from the groom's mother, brought back from a trip to Scotland.

Serving as matron of honor was Mrs. James Majka, St Paul, Minnesota, and the bridesmaid was Miss Judy Miller of Withee.

The girls wore floor length, sleeveless empire styled gowns of pale aqua moiré, fashioned with high ruffled neckline and low scooped ruffled backs. They carried cascade bouquets of white daisies and ivy with long streamers, and wore circlet of fresh daisies in their hair.

Serving as the groom's best man was Scot Seeman, Wausau, and groomsman was Paul Johnson, Wausau. Seating the guests was David Telder of Wausau.

Mrs. Evelyn Sanders acted as hostess in a champagne buffet following the wedding rehearsal at the bride's home.

The wedding reception followed the ceremony in the church parlor, which was decorated with white and purple lilacs, aqua candles and daisies. Serving at the punch bowl was Miss Roberta Rettig, Curtiss. Cutting and serving the bride's cake was Miss Rachel Rettig, Curtiss. Attending the guest book was Mrs. Timothy Relya, Eau Claire, a college roommate. Assisting at the gift table were Miss Jane Miller, Withee, and Miss Lynn Mertens, Withee.

Mrs. Sanders graduated May 31, 1969 at 10:00 a.m. from Eau Claire State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art Education.
