Smoczyk, Mary “Reggie” (Symbal) (7 SEP 1927 - 5 JUL 2017)

Mary “Reggie” Smoczyk, 89, formerly of Stanley, died on July 5th, 2017 at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in Chippewa Falls.

She was born on September 7, 1927 at her family home to the late Michael and Anna (Slowiak) Symbal. Reggie grew up in the Junction area and graduated from Stanley High in 1946. She married Peter Smoczyk on May 18, 1946 at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Catholic Church.

Grandma Reggie made many “one of a kind” birthday cakes for her Grandchildren over the years. Grandma’s extraordinary cake creations ranged from a tea pot with tea cups, a Lhasa Apso puppy, as well as too many doll and super hero cakes to count. Reggie’s family could always count on her to whip up their personal favorite meals when they were coming for a visit – all prepared with her loving touch.

She is survived by her children, Christine (Steve Beard) Benson of Appleton, Greg (Jody) Smoczyk of Chippewa Falls, Debbie (Adolf) Hendriks of Appleton, Matt (Jeanne) Smoczyk of Altoona, Mike (Cheryl) Smoczyk of Wyoming, MN and Pete (Cindy) Smoczyk of Cadott, a son in law, Ken Kraft of Medford, 13 grandchildren, Brenda and Breanne Kraft, Gregory (Megan), Mark and Christopher Smoczyk, Marissa (Aaron) Hunnel, Jenna, Jordan and Amber Smoczyk, Megan and Molly Smoczyk and Anthony and Ashley Smoczyk and 3 great grandchildren.

Reggie is preceded in death by her husband (2014), her parents, children, Judy Kraft, Connie Barnes and infant Daniel and her siblings, Louise Skaja, Rose Fuka, Helen Gutowski, Agnes Sado, Ted and Joseph Symbal.

A funeral mass will be at 11AM, July 8th at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father Baskaran officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9AM until time of departure to church Saturday morning at the Plombon Funeral Home with a 9 AM parish Rosary.
