Dorothy was born on Sept. 21, 1933, in Parkston, S.D., the ninth of 10 children, to Gail and Marion (Gorman) Groves. On Oct. 29, 1949, in Walkerton, Ind., she married Ora F. Harder and he survives. Together they had 10 children.

Dorothy was a positive, kindhearted person loved by many and will truly be missed by her family and friends. She was a very nurturing person and always had a favorite pet throughout her life. She was a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was tiny in stature and wise beyond her years. Dorothy had a strong relationship with God and lived her faith daily. She loved to sing. You could hear her sing everything from hymns to Frank Sinatra. She was excited to travel to Rome and sing for Pope John with her church choir. She enjoyed life and everyone around her, she made the best of every situation including her struggle with rheumatoid arthritis. She was a farm wife in Wisconsin for many years. Kept a clean house and was a wonderful cook. When they left the farm, they moved to Indiana where they finished raising their family. Dorothy worked at Martins Supermarket for 15 years before retiring. She learned to play the organ in her 50s and was a self-taught piano player, an avid reader and loved word puzzles. She was loved by many, a second mother to many. She will be missed.

In addition to her husband, Dorothy is survived by her children, Glenn (Mary) Harder of Rib Lake, Jim (Corinne) Harder of Davenport, Iowa, Brian (Deb) Harder, Cindy (Jerry) Gilge, Damon (Fay) and Phillip (Laural) Harder, all of Wausau, Paul Harder of St. Point, Patty (Kurt) Schafer of South Bend, Ind., Kathy (Mark) Huffer of South Bend and Jane (Art) Cybulski of Culver, Ind.; 24 grandchildren, Nathan, Angie, Matthew, Daniel, Michael, Gabe, Katie, Zak, Chris, Jodie, Ashley, Jeremey, Jessica, Joshua, Shane, Stella, Russell, Rachel, Kaleb, Alex, Emily, Ben, Jakob and Anna; sister, Lorraine Tebey; 20 great-grandchildren; and brother, Denny Groves.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Mary Ellen Rief, Pat Fleischman, Thomas Groves, Jerry Groves, Norbert Groves, Larry Groves and Joan Memorial contributions can be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 225 S. Mill Street, Mishawaka, IN 46544 or to the charity of donor’s choice.
