Olson, John “Jack” O. (27 APR 1938 - 22 JUN 2017)

John “Jack” O. Olson, 79, of Medford, passed away at his home on June 22, 2017, surrounded by his family.

Jack was born in Stanley on April 27, 1938 to Helen (Van Zutphen) and Leo Olson. He graduated from Gilman High School in 1956. He then served in the Army Reserves and was then called back later during the Cuba Crisis. On June 11, 1957 he married Ann Steivang in Reedsburg. They recently celebrated 60 years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Jon (Christine) of Medford and Jayne (Stan Steckbauer) of Wausau; grandchildren, Josh (Kristy) Kapfhamer, Alyssa (Nick) Prince, Christian Alwin, Kelsey Alwin, Elizabeth (Chad) Holmes, Patrick (Megan) Olson and Zachary Olson; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Logan, Leo, Brinley, Caleb, Amelia, Elise; and grand-dog, Abbi; sisters, Nancy Nedden, Sheri Hauser and Mary (Tom) Houle; and brother-in-law, John (Lynn) Steivang.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Don Olson; sister-in-law, Charlene Olson; brother-in-law, Robert Nedden; brother-in-law, Larry Hauser; niece Cindy Olson; and his father-in-law and his mother-in-law, John and Borghild Steivang.

Jack was a beloved husband, father, grandpa, brother and friend. Jack was in the used car business for over 60 years, owning and operating his own car dealership. The lasting impact he leaves behind is felt through several generations. The most prominent memory we have of him is his ability to love and include everyone around him, known for his constant winks and smiles. He was an avid sportsman and outdoorsman. Jack was a veteran, hard worker, and a family man. It was no secret that Ann had a hold on his heart at an early age and never let go.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials can be made in Jack's name to Make-A-Wish foundation of Wisconsin or an animal shelter of your choice.
