Meyer, Raymond W. (12 MAY 1933 - 21 MAY 2017)

Raymond W. Meyer, 84, of Medford passed away Sunday March 21, 2017 at his home in Medford, and under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care.

Ray was born May 12, 1933 in Perkinstown to William and Ruby (Redwine) Meyer. He married Linda Frischman and later divorced. He then married Janice Battles on April 26, 1968 in Anchorage, Alaska.

He is survived by his children: Gail (Mitch) Miller of Medford, Rod Meyer of Medford, Pam (Kurt) Jochimsen of Stratford, Laurie (Packer) Bryan of Athens, Tom (Christina) LaFontaine of Huntsville, AL, Kristen (Ronald) Raasch of Medford, Jim (Stacey) Meyer of Park Falls, Bethany LaFontaine of Medford, 26 Grandchildren, 41 Great Grandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild, Brothers: Don (Lana) Meyer, Lester (Mary) Meyer both of Holcombe, Sisters: Shirley Meyer of Colby, Irma Howsden of Owen, Esther Clarkson of Minocqua, and Mother in Law Betty Battles of Medford.

He is preceded in death by his Parents, Wife Janice, Sister Enola Westrich, Brothers in Law Steve Nosko, Red Howsden and Jerry Clarkson.

Ray graduated from Hannibal High School, and then served in the Wisconsin Army National Guard as a mechanic. He managed Eggert’s Service Station in Medford. He then went on to work as a heavy equipment operator for Miller Brothers Construction, Overguard, Kloth, Hoffmann finished his career with Petersons and retired in 1993. Ray was the co-owner of Jan’s Bar, and Hook, Line and Sinker Bait Shop at the Miller Dam.

He enjoyed the outdoors and loved to hunt, fish, cut firewood and spend time at his cabin in Perkinstown. He loved his Chihuahua Max.

Ray was a member at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, NRA and the Operating Engineers Union 139.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11 AM, Friday May 26, 2017 at the Chelsea Conservation Club. His Daughter Kristen Raasch will officiate. Visitation will be held at the Chelsea Conservation Club from 9 AM until the time of service at 11 AM. Cremation rites have been accorded, burial of cremated remains will take place at Perkinstown Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations in honor of Ray can be given to his family, for designation at a later date.
