Zuber, Rose (Mroz) (23 OCT 1920 - 12 MAY 2017)

Rose Zuber, age 96, of Colby passed away on Friday, May 12, 2017 at the House of the Dove in Marshfield with family surrounding her with love and prayers.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11AM on Thursday, May 18, 2017 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Colby with Rev. Peter Manickam officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Colby. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday at the church in Colby from 9AM until time of service.

Rose was born in Thorp, WI on October 23, 1920, the daughter of Felix and Ramie (Zuzelski) Mroz. She attended country school until the eighth grade. Rose resided in rural Thorp area until moving to Chicago in 1940. While in Chicago, Rose worked at Drill Press. She was united in marriage to Stanley Zuber on April 11, 1942 in Chicago and then moved to Colby in 1946. Rose and Stanley farmed in rural Colby until 1978. Sadly, her husband passed away June 14, 1978. Rose continued working as a cook for the Colby School District providing delicious meals for countless numbers of young children.

She was a member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and PCCW in Colby. Rose was also a member of the Clark County Homemakers for 50 years. Her hobbies included square dancing, crafting and she was an avid reader. She enjoyed golf and bowling and at the age of 90 bowled a 500 series.

Rose is survived by her children: Carol Zuber of De Pere, Suzanne (Ervin) Flesch of Seymour, Mark (Karen) Zuber of Eleva and Penny Zuber of Chanhassen, MN; seven grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by her siblings: Agnes Bogacz of Chicago, Clarence Mroz of Thorp, Theresa Javore of Menomonee Falls and Alice (Eddie) Bishop of Franklin.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stanley and two brothers, Johnny and Chester, and sister, Mary Bertram.
