Klawinski, George J. (22 MAY 1927 - 7 DEC 2004)

George J. Klawinski, 77, Athens, died Tuesday, December 7, 2004 at St. Joseph Hospital, Marshfield.

He was born May 22, 1927 in Athens, son of the late John and Martha (Lesczynski) Klawinski.

George served in the U.S. Army Air Force in Okinawa, Japan and was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Andrew J. Sutter Post #8427, Athens.

For many years, George worked as a cheese blender for Kraft Foods, and then as a heavy equipment operator and snow plow operator for Marathon County, until the time of his retirement.

Among many interests, he enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Survivors include, one sister, Violet (Victor) Behring, Wausau; two brothers, Harvey (Florence) Klawinski, Racine and Jack (Margaret) Klawinski, Gulfport, Miss.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Florence Edenhofer.

The funeral mass will be celebrated 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 11, 2004 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Athens. Rev. Charles Hiebl will preside. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens. Friends may call from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Friday at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens, and again from 10:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services at the church.

There will be a military memorial service at 7:15 p.m. Friday evening conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Andrew J. Sutter Post #8427, Athens followed by a parish vigil service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Anthony Catholic Church.
