Behrens, Olga (5 AUG 1924 – 1 APR 2017)

Olga Behrens, age 92, of Colby, passed away on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Colonial Center in Colby.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Colby. The Rev. Mark Neumann will officiate. Interment to follow at Colby Memorial Cemetery. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 a.m. until time of service Wednesday at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is entrusted with the arrangements.

Olga was born on August 5, 1924, the daughter of Ewald and Emma (Hass) Wiersig in the Town of Hull, Marathon County. She attended Colby Public Schools. Olga was united in marriage to Richard Behrens on June 16, 1948 at the Zion Lutheran Parsonage in Colby. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2002. Together they farmed near Cherokee until retiring in 1978.

Olga was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and was active in the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, flower gardening and bowling. Most importantly, she cherished her family.

Olga is survived by two sons: Stanley Behrens of Spencer and Phillip Behrens of Marshfield; five grandchildren: Ashley Behrens, Brett (Beth) Behrens, Kyle Behrens, Adam (Amanda) Phillippi and Derek Behrens; four great-grandchildren: Jim Behrens, Lincoln Behrens, Lily Phillippi and Macie Behrens. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard "Chick"; her son, Ralph in 2003 a granddaughter, Jodie Behrens; five siblings: Reinhardt Wiersig, Harold Wiersig, Frieda Wiersig, Ella Wellman and Hilda Dommer.
