Davel, Harold J. (9 APR 1915 - 12 FEB 1972)

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Randle Funeral Home, Waukesha, for a former Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.) resident, Harold J. Davel, 56, Waukesha, who died Saturday morning of a heart attack. He had undergone heart surgery in June.

The Rev. David C. Hinshaw officiated at the services and burial was at the Hillside Cemetery. Pallbearers, all principals, were Willard Menzel, James Blackwood, Milton Kopp, Gerald Bealrud, Rudolph Kohta, and William Megna. The musician was Mrs. Hamilton.

Mr. Davel was born April 9, 1915 in Loyal, and received his education here. He also attended Stevens Point Teacher's College and taught schools in Clark County until 1942, when he joined the Air Force. He had served overseas and was discharged in 1945. He was principal at Whittier Elementary School for the past 18 years, and had formerly been principal at Hatfield School, and prior to coming to Waukesha, he had taught at Palmyra. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge No. 335 of the Free and Accepted Masons of Loyal. He was also a member of the Elementary Principals Association, the Suburban Principals Association and the National Principals Association.

He was married July 4, 1946 in Albert Lea, Minn., to Helen Severin, who survives. He received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin, Stevens Point, and his Master's degree from the University of Wisconsin, Madison.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a sister, Mrs. Herbert (Anita) Fenner, Loyal.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
