Hamann, Harold J. (10 JUN 1932 - 9 MAR 2017)

Harold J. Hamann, 84, Athens died Thursday, March 9, 2017 at his home, under the care of Ministry Home Care Hospice.

He was born June 10, 1932 in the town of Hamburg, son of the late Arnold and Viola (Graveen) Hamann. He graduated from Athens High School in 1950. On September 7, 1957 he married Lenora Zocher at Trinity Lutheran Church, town of Berlin. She survives.

Harold was a dairy farmer in the town of Hamburg. After retiring from farming Harold's hobby was mowing lawn with his John Deere. His faith in God, Love of Nature, his wife, children and grandchildren was his pride and joy. We will miss you.

Harold proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1952 until 1954 during the Korean War where he was an MP.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lenora Hamann, Athens, his children, Rodney (Jackie) Hamann, Wausau, Randall (Connie) Hamann, Marathon, Larry (Mary) Hamann, Eau Claire, daughter, Laurie Brodziski, Athens, seven grandchildren, Andrea (Dustin) Wenstadt, Krista Hamann, Tyler (Sami Stubbe) Hamann, Dayton Hamann, Liam Hamann, Chad Hamann and Caleb Hamann, brother-in-law, Delmar Zocher, Merrill and his sister-in-law, Darlene Zocher, Athens.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Lloyd and Milton Hamann.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 13, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Athens. The Rev. Mark Schwalenberg will officiate. Burial will be in Salem Lutheran Cemetery, town of Hamburg.

Visitation will held on Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and again on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services all at the church. Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens is in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church and School.
