Schmidt, Mr./Mrs. Fred J. (Gold – 11 NOV 1969)

Mr. and Mrs. Fred J. Schmidt, 2521 Sacmann Ave., Sheboygan, observed their golden wedding anniversary with a family dinner at the Hoffman's at Riverdale on Sunday afternoon.

Two daughters present at the celebration are Mrs. Arnold (Rachael) Mortensen and Mrs. Donald (Adeline) Bratz, both of Sheboygan. William Schmidt, Enumclaw, Wash., a son, was unable to attend.

Out of town guests were Mr. and Mrs. Walter Trester and family, Kansas City, Mo. Mrs. Trester is a granddaughter of the celebrants, who have 13 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Mass and blessing at 9 a.m. Sunday at St. Dominic Catholic Church marked the golden event. Two surviving attendants present were Mrs. Anna Meske, Thorp and Mrs. Phoena Jacob, Kohler. The couple's marriage took place on November 11, 1919, at Thorp (Clark Co., Wis.), and the service was performed by the late Rev. John Neises.

Former Matilda Oberle, born September 8, 1899, in Thorp, is the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Oberle. Mr. Schmidt's parents, now deceased, were Mr. and Mrs. Christ Schmidt, and his birth occurred March 20, 1893, in Sheboygan.

Both Mr. and Mrs. Schmidt are members of Barracks and Auxiliary of Veterans of World War I, 2091, Sheboygan, and American Legion and Auxiliary of Thorp. He belongs to Holy Name Society of St. Dominic's and she is affiliated with its Christian Mothers Society and with Ladies of the G.A.R.

Traveling and card playing are special interests of the honorees.
