Fijalkiewicz, Christine (30 AUG 1969)

Miss Christine Fijalkiewicz and LaVerne Buresh exchanged their wedding vows at St. Mary’s Czestochowa Church at Junction, the Rev. Stanley Andrazejewski officiating at 10:00 on August 30, 1969. Altar boys were Lee and Jerry Vitort, cousins of the bride. The altar was decorated with white gladiolas and pompons. Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. John Fijalkiewicz, Stanley, and Mrs. Clarence Wilda, La Vegas, Nevada. The organist was Al Ciolkosz, accompanied by his choir, and the soloist was Ed Chura, who sang “On This Day O Beautiful Mother,” as the bride placed a bouquet on the Blessed Virgin’s altar. Escorted to the altar by her father, the bride wore an all Chantilly gown with pearl scalloped neckline, “V” bodice and long pointed sleeves. The front panel of the colonial skirt was straight, going into tiers of lace on the sides and back, and continuing into a built in Watteau train trimmed with sequins. Tiny lace petals centered by small organza flowers trimmed with sequins held her short bouffant veil, and she carried a cascade bouquet of red roses, stephanotis and ivy.

Miss Elaine Fijalkiewicz, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor. She wore a chiffon coat dress in candy pink. The sheath gown was accented by a satin rounded neckline, empire waistline and on the cuffs of the long puffed sleeves, in the coat which topped the sides and back.

The bridesmaids were Joan Myers, a friend, Rita Ignasiak, cousin of the bride, Judy Brenner and Sue Jessick, friends of the bride. The junior bridesmaids were Diane Vitort and Barb Kinderman, cousins of the bride and groom. Their dresses were styled identically to the maid of honor’s, only in turquoise, coral, chartreuse, lilac and blue, and their cascade bouquets of carnations and ivy were tinted to match their dresses. Their matching headpieces were chiffon loops holding short bouffant veils. Cindy Vitort, Stanley, cousin of the groom, was the flower girl, wearing a dress styled as that of the bride, and she carried a bouquet identical to that of the bride. The ring bearer was Mike Fijalkiewicz, Milwaukee, cousin of the bride.

Dennis Buresh was the best man for his brother. The groomsmen were Bruce Buresh, brother of the groom, Hank Derks, a friend, Bob Fijalkiewicz, cousin of the bride, and Tom Spath, a friend. Larry Vitort and Ed Chura ushered the guests to their seats.

The dinner and reception were held at Koolmo’s Ballroom in Gilman for 350 guests. Miss Loretta Ignasiak took charge of the guest book and Mrs. Bob Nemitz cut the wedding cake.

The bride’s mother chose a purple sheath with white accessories for the wedding, and the groom’s mother was attired in a pink dress with silver accessories. Each wore a corsage of pink roses. Following a wedding trip to La Vegas, the couple plans to make their home at 202 N. Lincoln, Thorp (Clark Co.), Wisconsin.

The out of town guests were present from Germany, La Vegas, Chicago, Niles, and Cicero, Illinois, Minneapolis, Racine, Green Bay, Plymouth, Milwaukee, Jim Falls, Chippewa Falls, Curtiss, Greenwood, Bloomer, Colfax and Manitowoc.

Sunday, the couple received congratulations and best wishes via a cablegram from Lt. Virginia Chura from Honolulu, Hawaii.

Another special occasion was celebrated, the 28th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. John Fijalkiewicz, parents of the bride. The couple received a bless from the priest and a cake made in honor of the occasion.
