Weiler, Joy (Lair) (16 MAR 1926 - 22 DEC 2016)

Joy Weiler, 90, Abbotsford, died Thursday, December 22, 2016 under the care of Hope Hospice and Palliative Care at her home.

She was born March 16, 1926 in town of Bern, daughter of the late Louis and Anna Lair. On November 4, 1942 she married Matthew Weiler at St. Peter Church in Laredo, Texas. He preceded her in death June 14, 2005.

Joy was a farm wife who loved horses and was an avid reader. She enjoyed fixing things and repairing old furniture. Above all she cherished time spent with her family and grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Lucy Naujock, Denver, Colorado, Dennis Weiler, Phil (Christy) Weiler, both of Artesia, New Mexico, Ben (Kathy) Weiler, Tomahawk, Laurie (Bob) Denzin, Milan, Matt Jay Weiler, Wausau and Sandy (Mike) Albrecht, Abbotsford; 22 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Besides her parents and husband, Matthew, she was preceded in death by two grandchildren, Chad and Deanna Weiler and six brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, December 30, 2016 at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Athens. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Athens.

Visitation will be Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services all at the Athens funeral home.
