Hasenohrl, Kenneth J. (10 JUN 1934 – 30 DEC 2016)

Kenneth J. Hasenohrl, age 82, of Colby passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016 at his home under the tender care of hospice. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, January 3, 2017 at St. Mary of Help of Christian Catholic Parish in Colby. Father Peter Manickam will officiate. Interment to follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Colby with Military Honors provided by the Colby VFW Post #2227. Family and friends are welcome from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, January 2 with a Prayer Service at 7:00 and on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. all at the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is entrusted with the arrangements.

Ken was born June 10, 1934, the son of Peter and Odialia (Kanter) Hasenohrl in Dorr, MI. He attended St. Mary's and graduated from Colby High School. After graduation, Ken had a route delivering Parkin Ice Cream. He enlisted in the US Navy in 1954 and trained as an Air Traffic Controller. In 1958, Ken joined the Air Force as a Controller and in 1962, he was hired as a controller for the FAA. He worked in Casper, Wyoming for 17 years before working for Army his last four years, retiring in 1988.

Ken was united in marriage to Joanne Brotowich in 1958, but they later divorced and had four children. In 1996, he was united in marriage to Margaret (Firnstahl) Bruesewitz. He enjoyed bowling, golf and walking. Ken and Margaret enjoyed traveling and bowling together in senior leagues. As health issues came about, he always commented on the two great families he had and enjoyed his life.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Margaret of Colby; four children: Rick Hasenohrl, Sam (Binh) Hasenohrl, Paul (Kelly) Hasenohrl and Stacie (Craig) Havnes all of Tucson, AZ; five step-children: Jill (Joe) Schaefer, Mary Jean (Darrell) Hornick, Scott (Tiffany) Bruesewitz, Julie (Harv) Zettler and Cindy (Chad) Pagelsdorf; one grandson, Adam Havnes; 12 step-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren with two more due in March and May. He is further survived by three sisters: Marcie Kirejczyk, Rose Fettig and Lois Retzer; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Richard and a sister, Marilyn Furtak.
