Heil, Clifford J. (19 MAR 1922 - 14 MAR 2011)

Clifford J. Heil, 88, Edgar and formerly of Marathon, died March 14, 2011 under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services.

The funeral mass will be celebrated 11 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2011 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. The Rev. Joseph Diermeier will preside. Burial will be in the parish cemetery where full military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Alois Dreikosen Post No. 469, Marathon.

Friends may call Friday from 4-8 p.m. at Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, Marathon, and again on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the church. There will be a parish rosary at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He was born March 19, 1922 in the town of Mosinee, son of the late Anton and Frances (Jansen) Heil. On September 9, 1946, he married Loretta Ruplinger at St. Mary Catholic Church, Marathon. She survives.

Clifford was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Army from 1942 until 1946, and served his country at the Battle of the Bulge.

Prior to his retirement, he had been employed as a papermaker with Mosinee Papers, and as an independent woodcutter. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, gardening, picking berries and spending time with family and friends.

Besides his parents, Clifford was preceded in death by two sons, Michael and James, two brothers, LeRoy and Donald Heil, and four sisters, Hattie Kordus, Doris Heil, Frances Bonkoski and Loretta Bonkoski, two sisters-in-law, Florence Heil and Margaret Heil, four brothers-in-law, Glen Bonkoski, John Bonkoski, George Kordus and Melvin Ruplinger.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established in Clifford's name.

The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services for the exceptional care given to Clifford.
