Hemmer, Gilbert “Gil” P. (22 MAY 1924 - 27 FEB 2012)

Gilbert “Gil” P. Hemmer, age 88 of 517 W. Blackhawk Ave., Stetsonville, passed away on Thursday, November 29 at the Memorial Health Center, Medford where he has been a patient for the past 4 days, with his wife by his side.

Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 4 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stetsonville, with Father Gerard Willger and Father Sangmoon Kim officiating.

Cremainal Interment will take place in Sacred Heart Parish Cemetery, Stetsonville.

Visitation will be at 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, December 4 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stetsonville.

Gil was born on May 22, 1924 at Black Hawk County, Iowa, to Joseph P. and Anna (Federspiel) Hemmer. He attended Gilbertville, Iowa Area Schools.

He was married on June 1, 1946 in Chicago, to Frances E. Klecka. She survives.

After their marriage they farmed in Iowa until 1964 where they then moved to the Stetsonville Area. They dairy farmed for 66 years until his retirement in 1990. After his retirement he worked at Ed Brecke’s Mink Ranch and Hildebrandt Lawn Service for a period of time. Gil enjoyed horses, woodworking and crafting.

Gil was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Stetsonville and was a Forester in the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his wife, Frances E. Hemmer of Stetsonville; children Ken (Tomi) of Medford, Ed (Jeannie) of Medford, Paul (Nancy) of Medford, Ron (Rondi) of Owen and John (Connie) Hemmer of Stetsonville; 11 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Gil is also survived by sisters, Theresa Conrad of Raymond, Iowa and Edith Youngblut of Cedar Falls, Iowa.

He is predeceased by his parents, Joseph P. and Anna (Federspiel) Hemmer; grandson Jason Hemmer; siblings Cletus Hemmer, Evelyn Schuster and Marie Kane.

Honorary pallbearers are Dave, Greg, Travis and Adam Hemmer, Kevin Will and Mike Rau.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Gil’s family to be designated at a later date.

Hemer Funeral Home of Medford and Rib Lake is assisting the family with arrangements.
