Merwin, Benjamin P.

ABBOTSFORD – Benjamin Pierce Merwin Jr., 96, died at 2 p.m. Thursday at Continental Manor Nursing Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Maurina Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert L Everhard of First Presbyterian Church is to officiate. Burial will be in Abbotsford Cemetery.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Merwin was born March 12, 1884 in the town of Holton and attended schools there. He farmed in the town of Holton and also worked as a lineman for Hull Telephone Co. He moved here in 1944 and was a member of First Presbyterian Church.

On Jan. 15, 1908, he and Anna L. Prosser were married at the home of her parents. The Merwins celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1958. She died Jan. 31, 1976.

Surviving are three children, Mrs. Ralph (Hazel) Remmel and Arvin Merwin, both of Kewaskum; and Harold Merwin of Abbotsford; a brother, Howard Merwin of Abbotsford; a sister, Mrs. Tony (Ida) Hennlich of Owen; 13 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. One son, three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
