Netzer, Lawrence "Larry" E. (3 APR 1935 - 22 JUL 2016)

Lawrence "Larry" E. Netzer, 81, of Medford passed away on Friday, July 22nd at his Lake Holcombe cottage.

Larry was born on April 3rd, 1935 in Woodstock, Illinois to Robert and Mary (Klinger) Netzer.

He graduated from Portage High School in 1954. He married Rita Johnson on October 24th, 1959 in St. Louis Catholic Church, Dorchester. Larry was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Medford.

Larry was a sausage maker for most of his life. He learned the trade from his father. Larry started in the Meat Department of Tombstone Pizza, formulating meat toppings for pizza, snack sticks and jerky. In 1990, Larry started Hickory Nutz Sausage which specialized in wild game. His claim to fame is his venison bacon.

He loved spending time with his family and friends at Lake Holcombe. Larry was an avid fisherman and hosted annual fish fries at "Moe's Place" for many years.

Survivors include his wife Rita (Johnson) Netzer; his children Lori Netzer (Mike Gleiforst); Pat Brost (Wayne Denzine); Dennis Netzer (Trish Ulrich); Angie Isaacson (Brad Isaacson); Tim Netzer (Suzy Netzer); Jeff Netzer (Magga Netzer); Bobbi Breneman (Dave Breneman); Curt Netzer; and his brother, Frank Netzer, Holcombe; 19 Grandchildren, 4 Great Grandchildren.

Two deceased brothers: Robert and Thomas Netzer.

As per Larry's request, his body was donated for scientific study. No services are scheduled.
