Knaak, Karen Eve (13 JUN 1964)

A 7 'clock candlelight marriage ceremony was solemnized Saturday, June 13, 1964, in the First United Presbyterian Church in Oshkosh, where vows were repeated by Miss Karen Eve Knaak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Knaak, Oshkosh, and Thomas D. Steele, Wausau, son of Mrs. Clarissa Steele, Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.).

Officiating at the nuptials, during which Mr. Knaak presented his daughter in marriage, was the Rev. Lowell McConnell.

Mrs. James Reiner and Ralph Kummerow played an organ-piano duet. The ribbon trimmed aisles gleamed with lighted candles in tall candelabra, and on the altar was placed a twin triangular arrangement of all white gladioli and pompons.

The bride's gown was rayon organza over taffeta and all over Schiffli embroidery. Box pleats created the controlled fullness of the skirt, and the waistline was cinched with a sash and a back bow above a sweep train. The bodice had a scoop neckline.

Secured to her organza pillbox was her bouffant shoulder length veil. The bride carried a cluster of pale pink cymbidium orchids.

Preceding the bride to the altar were her aides, Miss Marcelline Rothenbach, Oshkosh, the maid of honor, and Miss Ann DeCoster, Green Bay, the bridesmaid.

They donned turquoise sheer caplets with floating panels over the semi-full floor length gowns of sheer over taffeta, with satin bows at the waistlines. Their pillbox hats had turquoise bows around the crown and circular veils.

Sid Sorensen of Wausau was the best man, while Allen Christel, Valders, served as groomsman. Seating the wedding guests as they arrived at the church were William Hack, Benjamins Wagner and William Knaak.

Following the ceremony, the reception was held at the Town House there. The newlyweds are king their home in Wausau at 1701 Madison Street, the bridegroom being a teacher in the Wausau school system. He is a 1960 graduate of Wisconsin State College, Eau Claire, where he was affiliated with Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity.

Mrs. Steel, who has been employed in the Robbinsdale Public School System, Robbinsdale, Minn., was graduate in 1961 from Wisconsin State College, Whitewater. She was affiliated with Delta Zeta Sorority.
