Pickruhn, Bertha (21 JUL 1874 – 26 JUN 1963)

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, June 29, 1963, at the Myre Funeral Home at Loyal (Clark Co., Wis.), for Mrs. Bertha Pickruhn, 88, Loyal, who died at 3 p.m. Wednesday in Neillsville Memorial Hospital. She had been admitted there Monday after suffering a stroke.

Rev. Orval Egbert, pastor of the United Church of Christ, Greenwood, officiating, and burial was made in the Loyal Lutheran Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Reuben Litka, Gary Scheel, Ervin Schmidt, Howard Stowe, Eddie Bauer and Oscar Bauer.

Miss Nettie Miller sang "Under His Wings" and "Someday He'll Make It Plain." She was accompanied by Mrs. Daniel Olson.

The former Bertha Litka was born in Germany on July 21, 1874 and came to the United States at the age of seven with her parents and two brothers, and settled on a farm in the town of Loyal, where she received her education in rural schools. She was married to Charles Pickruhn on May 19, 1897 in Loyal.

After their marriage she lived in various places until 1915, when they moved to Greenwood where he husband was a harness maker. She continued to live here after the death of her husband in 1942. In 1954 she moved to Loyal, where she made her home with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Lydiksen. She was a member of the United Church of Christ here and a honorary member of Zion Guild.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Peter (Arvilla) Lydiksen, Loyal; two sisters, Mrs. Earl (Annie) Stowe, Loyal, and Mrs. Andrew (Amelia) Lydiksen, Riplinger. Shew as preceded in death by one son, in 1904, two brothers, and two sisters.

Out of town relatives and friends who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Hannah Holmes and James Holmes, Wis. Rapids; Mrs. Inga Binning, Unity; Mr. and Mrs. Herman Blaire, Abbotsford; Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Lydiksen, Mrs. Phil Christie, Mr. Albert Schroeder, and Mr. Reuben Buettner, Riplinger; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bailey, Opal Bailey, Rib Lake; Miss Isadore Shields, Mrs. Caroline Horn, Mrs. Vera Wuethrich, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Franz, Greenwood; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Polzin, Mr. and Mrs. Orvin Litka, Milwaukee; Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bauer, Mrs. Mary Nielsen, Spencer; Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Bauer of Marshfield, and Miss Rosa Holmes of Chippewa Falls.
