Wood, Ruth E. (13 NOV 1917 – 22 APR 2016)



Ruth E. Wood, age 98, of Marshfield, formerly of Clintonville, passed away peacefully on April 22, 2016 in Marshfield. She was born on November 13, 1917 in Marinette, WI, the daughter of the late Thomas L. and Charlotte (Dunn) Fitzpatrick. Ruth was united in marriage to Richard J. Wood on October 24, 1938 in Marinette. They had one son, Kenneth J. Wood of Marshfield. She worked for Bell Telephone/AT&T for 50 years in Marinette, Oconto, Milwaukee and Appleton, retiring in 1975. She and Richard moved to Pella in 1960 and ran the Pine Tree Inn for many years. After Richard’s death in 2001, Ruth lived in Clintonville before moving to Marshfield in 2013. Ruth was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Leopolis, and the Altar Society.

Ruth is survived by her son Kenneth J. Wood, his wife, Lori Belongia of Marshfield; three grandsons, Mike (Vicki Schultz) Wood of Kaukauna, Jason (Ann) Wood of Appleton, and Jeremy (Gretchen) Wood of Appleton. She is further survived by six great-grandchildren, and a daughter-in-law, Nancy Wood of Appleton, as well as her half-sister, Arlene Sinnen of Kenosha.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one brother, Norman.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at Swedberg Funeral Home in Shawano with Rev. David Barrett officiating. Burial will be in the Oconto Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00 noon until the time of the service.
