Members of the Loyal High School Homecoming Court include freshman
representatives: Eugene Pachal and Patricia LaBarge; Sophomores: Tom Dahlby and
Kay Wissell; King Scott Needham and Queen Sheila Trindal; Senior
representatives: Gene Weyer and Sharon Helm; and junior members: Dennis Rollins
and Debbie Pieper.
The Loyal Greyhounds will play their 1970 Homecoming game against the Colby
Hornets on Friday, October 9, at 7 p.m. Pre-game and half time shows, including
the introduction of the queen and the class representatives will be presented by
the Loyal High School marching band.
Other Homecoming activities will begin on Monday, October 5, with the painting
of store front windows on Main Street. Those groups painting windows include the
four high school classes, plus the FHA, GAA, Spanish Club, Library Club, and
Letterman’s Club. The windows will be judged by Bill Rellis, Glen Mills, and
Byron Zepplin, and prizes of $7, $5, and $3 will be awarded the winners
Wednesday night during the skits.
Skit night will begin at 8:00 p.m., October 7, with the singing of the school
song. Eight skits will be presented on the stage in the new gym.
Judges will be Mr. David Studinski, Mrs. Gwen Pigott, and Mrs. Judy Lentz. Paul
Hable, Student Council President, will announce the three winning skirts. Prizes
of $10, $7, and $4 awarded to those skits will be provided by the Student
Council, which will also provide a the prize money for the window winners.
Following the announcement of the skit winners, everyone attending will retire
to the baseball diamond for the bonfire ceremonies. The bonfire materials
provided by the junior class, will be be-lighted by Coach Abrahamson and Scott
Needham, the Homecoming King. The king and queen and the class representatives
will all say a few words pertaining to the Homecoming game.
The Homecoming dance will be held Saturday, October 10, from 9:00 p.m. to 12:00
a.m. The grand march will take place at 9:30. The music will be provided by the
Royal Oaks and the decorations will be provided by the senior class. The
admission prices will be $1.25 for singles and $2.00 for couples.
