Ziegler, Josephine L. (Jari) (25 APR 1929 - 19 NOV 2010)

Josephine L. Ziegler, age 81, of W4679 Brink Avenue, Medford, died on Friday, November 19 at the Memorial Nursing and Rehab Center, Medford where she had resided for the past 2 months.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, November 23 at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, with Father Gerard Willger officiating. Interment will be at Holy Rosary Catholic Cemetery, Medford.

Honorary pallbearers are Amber Gerum, Shawn and Autumn Rose Murphy and Megan Krueger.
Active pallbearers are Chuck McWilliams, Chad Ziegler, Nathan Gerum, Christopher and Melissa Schmidt, Mike, Daniel and Ben Jari.

Visitation will be at 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Monday, November 22 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford where there will be a 7:30 P.M. Rosary Service and also from 9:00 A.M. to 10:45 A.M. Tuesday, November 23 at the Hemer Funeral Home, Medford.

Josephine was born on April 25, 1929 in the Town of Deer Creek, to Joseph M. and Augusta (Makovec) Jari Sr. She attended Cloverdale School in the Town of Browning.

On September 17, 1960, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford, she married John G. Ziegler. He preceded her in death on December 19, 1999.

After school Josephine moved to Florida where she babysat for around 1 year. She then moved back to the Medford area and was a housekeeper for Holy Rosary Rectory and also for the Morgan Peterson family. After their marriage, she and her husband farmed in the Town of Browning for many years. She also babysat for a period of time. Josephine was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and canning. She enjoyed listening to polka music, playing BINGO, 500 Rummy and trips to the casino. Josephine also enjoyed taking rides in the country, traveling and visiting family and friends. She was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Medford and the Holy Rosary Council of Catholic Women.

She is survived by daughters, Kathy Ziegler of Medford, Patricia (Glenn) Schmidt of Westland, Mich., Diane Gerum of Medford and Linda (Kent) Murphy of Apison, Tenn; grandchildren Chad Ziegler of Winona, Minn., Megan (Derrick) Krueger of Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Nathan Gerum of Wausau, Melissa and Christopher Schmidt both of Westland, Michigan, Amber Gerum of Medford, Shawn and Autumn Murphy both of Apison.

Josephine is also survived by her siblings, Robert (LaVerne) Jari, Matt (Carole) Jari and James (Lois) Jari all of Medford, Margaret (Bob) Barker of Rockford, IL; half sister: Barbara Jari of Rothschild; step sister-in-law: LaVerne Grzegorek of Medford; also survived by several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She is predeceased by her parents, Joseph M. and Augusta (Makovec) Jari Sr.; siblings, Marie Jari, Joseph Jari Jr.; twin sisters Delores and Dorothy in infancy; step-brother: Joseph Grzegorek Jr.; 1 Grandson: Alex Ziegler in 1993.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made in Josephine’s name to the Holy Rosary Building Fund or for Mass Intentions 215 S. Washington Avenue Medford, Wisconsin 54451
