Capelle, Violet Lily "Vi" (12 FEB 1924 – 11 MAR 2016)

Violet L. “Vi” Capelle, 92, Loyal, passed away at her home on Friday, March 11, 2016. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., on Friday, March 18, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Loyal. Rev. Daniel Zimmerman will officiate. Burial of cremains will follow at the Lutheran Cemetery in Loyal. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10 a.m. until time of service.

Violet Lily Pagelow was born on Feb. 12, 1924, in Cleveland, Wis., the daughter of Walter and Lily (nee Zimmerman) Pagelow. She was raised on the family farm and received her education at the Red Arrow School in Cleveland. Vi worked for six years as a secretary at a farm implement store in Cleveland. She married Delmer D. Capelle on Nov. 6, 1948, at St. John-St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Cleveland. They moved to Loyal, where they farmed their entire married life, raising sheep and dairy cattle. After retiring in 1997, they have continued living on the farm until the present time. Violet was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she was active in the TLCW, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. Vi was also very involved in 4-H as a 4-H leader. She had many interests, but especially loved writing, flowers, the Green Bay Packers and keeping up with family and friends on Facebook.

Vi will be dearly missed by her husband, Del, Loyal; three children: Larry (Nancy) Capelle of Fredericksburg, Va., Linda (Bill) Snell of Key West, Fla., and Debbie (Doug) Hyde of Menomonie; six grandchildren: Dalynn (James) Cato, Aaron (Lucy) Hyde, Ben Hyde, Chelsy (Matt) O’Connell, Kayla Snell, and Jesse Vogel; two great-grandchildren: David and Alyana Cato; one sister-in-law, Helen Pagelow of Sheboygan; special friends Tom Kahn and Linda (Bob) Treglowne; and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, David Capelle in 1998; one brother, Wallace Pagelow; and one son-in-law, Dan Winslow.

The family asks that memorials be given in Vi’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church or Heifer Project International.
