Walters, Margaret (21 APR 1883 – 22 MAY 1959)

Margaret Rottscheit, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Rottscheit, was born April 21, 1883 in Marshfield Here she grew to womanhood and received her education.

On January 21, 1901 she was united in marriage to William Walters at Marshfield. Mr. Walters passed away in 1953.

In 1905 they moved to the Town of Beaver (Clark Co., Wis.), later moving to the city of Greenwood, and in 1922 she moved to Wausau and was employed by Nigbor Furs at the Wausau store for 21 years, 15 of them as local manager. In 1949 she and her son Gordon formed a partnership and established the Walters Furs at 1204 Gallon Street, Wausau.

She was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church, St. Margaret's Circle and Fatima Council of the church, and the E.R.A., a fraternal group.

Mrs. Walters, who had been ill for some time, passed away at a Wausau hospital on Friday, May 22, 1959.

The parish rosary was said Saturday night at 8:00 and the Fatima Council said a rosary at the Bardene Peters Funeral Home.

A Requiem Mass was read at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 25th at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Wausau, Rev. Father A.W. Fischer, pastor, officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenwood. Rev. Father Edward F. Hartung, pastor of St. Mary's, officiated at the grave.

The pallbearers were Anton Brantner, Eugene Turner, Joseph Bretl, Wayne Walters, John and Richard Weyker.

Mrs. Walters is survived by three sons, Harold Walters, 718 S. 3rd Ave and Gordon Walters, 1204 Callon Street, Wausau; Raymond Walters, Denver, Colorado; two daughters, Mrs. John (Leona) Milkent, Kenosha; Mrs. A.L. (Irene) Weyker, Milwaukee; 21 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jake Rottscheit, Spokane, Wash.; Peter Rottscheit, Marshfield; four sisters, Mrs. John Truhler and Mrs. Anton Brantner, Marshfield; Mrs. Roger Prodger and Mrs. Sybilla Wolfe, St. Paul, Minnesota.
