Turenne, Robert Louis “Bob” (28 April 1923 - 2 March 2016)

Robert L. “Bob” Turenne, age 92, of Thorp, WI, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016, at Our lady of Victory Hospital, in Stanley, WI. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday March 11, 2016, at Thorp Funeral home, Pastor Randy VanDeLoo will officiate and burial will follow in St. Bernard’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Thorp Funeral home, on Friday, from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

Robert Louis Turenne was born on April 29, 1923, in the Town of Reseburg, rural Thorp, to Joseph E. and Elsie E. (Henchen) Turenne. He was raised on the family farm and received his education at Thorp area schools, graduating from Thorp High School in 1942. During his junior and senior years in high school, Bob worked in a CCC Camp in the Perkinstown area. After graduation, he moved to Seattle, WA and worked in the shipyards for three years. He moved back to Thorp in 1946, and began working at the Foremost Blue Moon Cheese Factory.

Bob was united in marriage to Patricia M. Bogumill on November 5, 1949, in Thorp. He continued working for the Foremost Blue Moon Cheese Factory until retiring in March of 1984. After retiring, Bob actively volunteered for the Red Cross Bloodmobile for many years.

He had many interests, but especially loved deer hunting, bike riding, playing pool in area pool leagues from 1947 to 2012, and had a special love for the outdoors.

Bob is survived by four sons: Scott (Kathy) Turenne of Stanley, Bruce Turenne, Gary (Sandi) Turenne, and Todd Turenne, all of Thorp; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two brothers: Richard Turenne of Thorp, and Roger (Josephine) Turenne of Deatsville, AL; one sister, Maxine (James) Biser of Stevens Point, WI; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Patricia Marie, on June 9, 1993; one son, John Turenne, on September 10, 1980; one brother, Ramon Turenne; and one sister, Patricia Wallace.
