Breezee, Vergil Allen “Pops” (28 JUL 1939 - 4 FEB 2016)

Vergil Allen “Pops” Breezee, 76, of Medford, passed away peacefully on Feb. 4, 2016 at his home.

Vergil was born in Colfax on July 28, 1939 to Arthur and Mildred Breezee. He lived most of his childhood in Colfax before moving to Cornell.

At the age of 24 Vergil was drafted into the United States Army on March 7, 1963 when he started his training as a missile man expert for the United States Army, 4th Missile Battalion 6th Artillery, on July 26, 1963 he was ranked as a Private E2 in the 1st Air Defense Guided Missile Group as a Defense Missile man on the Nike Hercules Missile and was trained in Fort Bliss, Texas.

He served overseas in Bremerhaven, Germany for countless days where he was certified as a marksman with the M14 rifle while guarding the missile base. Vergil served as an active soldier until Feb.16, 1965 and then was entered into the reserves until March 1, 1969 when he was honorably discharged as an E4 and served his time for six years.

During this time he met a beautiful woman (Ruth Ann Pahl) whom he fell in love with and married her on May 1, 1967. Vergil worked in the local paper mill in Cornell doing general labor work. In 1969 they started their family in Cornell and had four children there.

In 1976 he started work at Norco Windows in Hawkins where he later moved his family for 10 years, and in 1986 he relocated to Jump River. While working at Norco and running his own sport shop on the side, he worked for 29 years as a custom window door fabricator, and retired from there in 2005. After retirement he moved to Medford and lived there for nine years. He enjoyed doing many things like making bird houses, fishing, hunting, family time, just an overall great outdoors man.

Vergil is preceded in death by his parents, Arther and Mildred Breezee; brothers Ronnie and Peter Breezee; and a sister Betty Leu Breezee.

Vergil is survived by his wife Ruth Ann Breezee of Medford; daughters Regina Carillon (Danny) of Sheldon; son-in-law Mark Carillon of Sheldon; daughters Robin (Wally) Leipart of Merrill and Roxanne Voldberg of Medford; son, Ben (Kathy) Breezee of Medford, 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Vergil will be missed deeply by all, he was the most caring, thoughtful, honest, brave man we all have ever known. We will miss you so much and never stop thinking about you.
