Neuendorf, Shirley L. (Marriage - 27 April 1974)

The former Miss Shirley L. Neuendorf and Russell R. Karl exchanged wedding vows Satruday, April 27, in a 2 p.m. ceremony performed at St. John’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff. Following a reception and dinner at Bali Hai supper club, an evening open house honoring the couple was held at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Neuendorf, in Neillsville. Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Karl, Rt. 3 Neillsville , are the groom’s parents.

A cathedral length Mantilla veil trimmed with matching lace framed the empire-waist silk organza and Chantilly lace gown chosen by the bride. Lace accented the high neckline and tapered sleeves of the gown and trimmed the wide flounce of the A-line skirt. Her flowers were a cascade of white carnations and apricot tea roses.

Cindy Chaffee of Carol Stream, Il., a cousin of the bride, was her maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Charles Neuendorf of rural Marshfield, sister-in-law of the bride, and Miss Jackie Wilkes, a friend of Irvington, Al. A floral print in shades of apricot, green and gold formed their high necked, band waist gowns styled with deeply flounced hemlines. Apricot Juliet caps with matching illusion veils complimented their ensembles, which were completed by cascade bouquets of apricot-hued blossoms.

The groom was attended by Ken Behnke of Loyal, his cousin, as bestman and Charles Neuendorf of Marshfield, brother of the bride, and Mickey Kuzjak of Milwaukee, a friend, as groomsmen. Guests were seated by Robert Neuendorf of West Allis, brother of the bride, and Ivan Karl, cousin of the groom.

Soloist Marilyn Watenpuhl was accompanied by Victor Lehmann on the organ.

Hostesses at two pre-nuptial showers honoring the bride were Loretta Trimberger, Kathy Doud and Char Drescher, and Lila Karl and Velda Behnke.

A 1972 graduate of Neillsville High School, the new Mrs. Karl attended a Milwaukee high school in her freshman year. Her husband graduated from Neillsville high School in 1969 and attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls for two years. He is engaged in dairy farming.

The newlyweds are making their home on Rt. 3 Neillsville.
